In this post, we’ll share our one-month Thailand itinerary and a breakdown of costs to help you plan your own unforgettable journey.

Days 1–5: Bangkok - The Heart of Thailand

We kicked off our Thailand adventure in the bustling capital, Bangkok. For the first five days, we stayed in a hotel located in the area called Sathorn which was near the center but in a less touristy area which gave us easy access to popular attractions, markets, and public transportation. We ate a lot of our meals at a local food market near where we stayed where the food was a great price. We spent very little on extra groceries mainly water and snacks and yoghurt and muesli for our breakfast as well as some fruit. Most days we would have coffee and a drink somewhere.

Day 6-12: Phuket – A Beach Lovers Paradise

After an exciting few days in Bangkok we flew to Phuket for 7 nights. We stayed in the less touristy area of Rawai. We opted to catch a taxi from the airport. The drive was one and a half hours but there was a lot of traffic. There is a Smart bus from the airport but we would have had to wait about an hour to catch it. However this would have been a lot cheaper. Unfortunately my husband and I were both sick for most of the time so we only ate two meals out and the rest of the time we ate 7/11 meals. Therefore bear in mind that it would have cost more if we had been eating out everyday.

We did one activity and that was a day trip to Coral island. We hired a scooter for 3 days and caught a bolt to one of the beaches close by on one of the days. We also caught a taxi to the pier for our exit.

Day 13-19: Koh Yao Noi

This was and still is one of our favorite islands. We caught a 30 minute speedboat from Phuket to Koh Yao Noi. We stayed in the same accommodation that we stayed in 2 years ago and we still loved it. In the mornings we saw Hornbills in the garden and the accommodation included breakfast which was delivered to our room each morning. We hired a scooter for the 7 days we were there. The island is not busy so it easy to have a scooter here. We did one day trip to Hong Island and 3 other islands and another day trip to Koh Yao Yai.

Day 20-30 – Koh Lanta

We caught a speedboat from Koh Yao Noi to Koh Lanta. We stayed in two different resorts, each for 5 days. Our activities included a 4 island day trip and a boat trip on the Mangroves. We hired a scooter for the ten days we were there.

So we can conclude that you can do a month in Thailand on holiday for about 3000 US. You could even do it for less if you prepared to stay in accommodation without aircon, in hostels and not on the beach. You could also eat at places for less than we did but every now and then we just splashed out on a pizza or a glass of wine or cocktail. However we didn’t drink a lot of alcohol, on average 1 beer a night we shared for 100 baht.
